📂How to Manage and Create Hazardous Substances
Managing hazardous substances within Take5™️ Connect helps ensure that your sites comply with safety regulations and that employees and contractors are aware of the risks. This guide will walk you through how to create, manage, and track hazardous substances within the platform.
Step 1: 📂 Navigate to Hazardous Substances
- After logging in, find the Hazardous Substances section under the drop down menu under Templates in the left-hand menu.
- Click on Hazardous Substances to open the management page where you can view and edit the substances listed on your site.

Step 2: 🛠️ Creating a New Hazardous Substance
- On the Hazardous Substances page, click the Add button at the top of the screen.
- Fill in the necessary details for the hazardous substance, including:
- Substance Name
- The related risk or harm
- Precautions for use
- Storage requirements
- Substance Type
- Unit Type
- UN Class
- GHS/HSNO Classification
- GHS/HSNO Approval
- Expiry date of SDS
- Then you can use to link the hazardous substance to all sites or select specific sites.
- You can then associate necessary PPE or Add Files
- Once all details are filled in, click Save to create the hazardous substance.

Step 3: 🔄 Managing Hazardous Substances
To manage your hazardous substances:
- Edit a Substance: Click the Edit button next to an existing substance to modify its details.
- Delete a Substance: Click the Delete button to remove a substance from the list. Note that deleting will permanently remove the substance and its associated data.
- View: Click on the View button to see the linked details

Step 4: 🔍 Reviewing Hazardous Substances Records
To review the hazardous substances listed:
- Browse through the Hazardous Substances page where substances are organized by classification and risk level.
- Use the Search Bar to quickly find a specific substance.
- Click on any substance to view its details, including the safety data and risk assessment.

Step 5: 📥 Exporting Hazardous Substances Data
- To export your Hazardous Substances data, click on the List Menu button located at the top of the page.
- Choose CSV to download the list for reporting or record-keeping purposes, otherwise you can export to a PDF or XLSX

❓ Troubleshooting
- Substance not appearing? Ensure that the substance has been properly created and that the classification or risk level is correctly assigned.
- Unable to upload SDS? Double-check the file format and size of the SDS document.
- Changes not saving? Try refreshing the page and ensure your internet connection is stable.
